Vaccinations
All our dogs have full vaccinations for a year from the time before they travel. Rabies needs to be repeated every three years and other vaccinations do not need to be repeated annually unless you are travelling abroad on the pet passport or are leaving your dog in boarding kennels - there is now lots of evidence for this. The dogs are also wormed and flea treated just before they leave. Thus they do need repeat treatments of these preparations, after about a month in this country (according to the instructions on the medication)

Passports
The pet passport will be provided to you. Rest assured that unless there is something clearly wrong with your dog or they need to be spayed or neutered, they do not need to visit the vet in the first few weeks or months and indeed doing so while they are still settling in may set up an aversion to vets for their lifetime. Even if they do need to visit the vet, the pet passport (containing the record of vaccinations) is not essential.
Microchip
Once adopted, we will change over the owner details using the information you give us on your application form. You will be sent the PETtrac documents to your home address. Please inform both Give a Dog a Home and PETtrac of any changes to your contact or address details.
