When Alice arrived at PAWS just in time because the very next day she had her litter of 8 beautiful puppies. Alice was very protective of her pups at first to the point that only a few trusted people were allowed near her and them. Once the puppies were old enough to be moved, she became more trusting and has settled into an easier relationship with people - though she can still be nervous of new people and situations. She is a lovely dog with a strong but pleasant character. It is doubtful that Alice's past experiences with human have been good, which would explain some of her initial behaviour. Once she gets to know people she is fine but just a bit nervous so needs gentle handling. She loves to be petted and will happily walk on the lead. She has had very little training - only what volunteers have had time for. Home life will be completely alien to her. Having said that, hounds seem to adapt to living in a home in a heart beat and soon know the best places to lay or sit (and where the food is kept!). Alice needs loving and understanding people who can help her overcome any remaining fears and who can guide her with confidence.
Alice is in Devon at Euphoria Dog Rescue and Rehoming Centre (a private enterprise) and can be seen there. PAWS is handling the Adoption Applications and homechecks.
Alice travelled with all vaccinations, microchip and passport. She has tested negative for Brucellosis.
